All the BLMA flats weathered to some extent, whether in the original brown paint scheme as delivered in the sixties, or the yellow and black which was introduced in the early seventies.

A caboose hop on the rear of this TOFC train. The dark red is from Centralia and the weathered waycar is of unknown origin, but highly modified from its original configuration with many MT parts.

ReplyDeleteI had a question about your opinion on the flat cars. I have a 15inch visible turnback curves on my layout, none in tunnels. Do you think long flatcars such as these will look okay on my sharper curves? My layout doesn't really support flatcars operationally but a run-through TOFC train would be great to have! :)

The tightest curves on my layout are about 22", and even these have overhangs. It doesn't phase me, nor have any spectators noticed or cared. My advice, it's your railroad, and you can do anything you want. Got any friends that would loan you a few cars so you can try it out, and see how they look? I am king of my layout, and you are king of yours!
